I had a bit of a laugh when I googled tobacco leaves and realised that it probably really is a 'tobacco stripe'. She had knitted counterpanes on all the beds. They were knitted from a very soft cotton "yarn" and, were usually squares stitched together. Most were white but she had one that was in shades of off white and a taupe. It was striped. There was no leaf design but i remember an all over pattern.
I remember it because i slrpt under it in the window bed.
Perhsps that is the "tobacco " stripe?Aunt Jonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10180794.post-86959742669134945432015-07-25T12:33:31.713-07:002015-07-25T12:33:31.713-07:00Thanks so much for pulling together this great inf...Thanks so much for pulling together this great information!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10180794.post-67006621812807903062015-01-30T20:37:35.022-08:002015-01-30T20:37:35.022-08:00Thank you!!! :) Thank you!!! :) Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10180794.post-84130050708003383372014-04-11T11:57:04.889-07:002014-04-11T11:57:04.889-07:00I just re-read the books for the first time since ...I just re-read the books for the first time since the internet was widespread, and realised that this information would be readily available.
